I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

Holiday Gift Guide: Baby [Want, Wear, Need, Read]

Holiday Gift Guide: Baby [Want, Wear, Need, Read]

As a small child, I did not understand the saying, "It's better to give than to receive."  I thought that was lunacy! What was better than tearing off the gift wrap, ripping off the ribbons and bows to reveal a shiny new toy inside?  As a grown up I have switched positions and take more joy in giving gifts.  As long as I have a game plan, I don't find the holiday season too stressful, but rather enjoyable.

As much as I love to give, I have to reign it in.  This has never been truer now that I have a young son.  It would be so easy to paint the town red in a toy store!  However; my husband and I have set a realistic budget.  The last thing we want to do is foolishly overextend ourselves.  Justin and I want to bless our children on Christmas, but not spoil them.  We also want our children to cultivate a spirit of giving and serving others.

We're adopting the "Want-Wear-Need-Read" philosophy.  It's self-explanatory and we are sticking to 1-2 items per category to keep Dylan's presents within reason.  Pictured below are some of my favourite items for babies.  They vary in price range and hail from a variety of stores (big box, online retailers, small businesses).

I hope you find this helpful... although I am sure that no matter what you buy the littles this Christmas they will be more fascinated with the gift wrap and boxes they come in lol!
