I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

Dylan Archer is 2

Dylan is now TWO!  I never truly understood how time flies until I became a parent.  Birthdays are bittersweet milestones… okay mostly sweet, but there’s a gnawing ache in my heart as I realize just how quickly my firstborn is growing up!  With that said, it’s not everyday that you turn two so a party was in order!

I’ve seen “Pinterest Perfect” parties where kids’ birthday parties rival wedding receptions or proms.  While I believe a birthday should be celebrated, [with loved ones, perhaps a gift or two and or course la pièce de résistance... CAKE!] I like to keep it sweet and simple.  We brunch'd with the grandparents at our favourite local joint followed by gifts and cake [that may have had an accident on the drive home from the bakery… whoops!].  This birthday boy had a blast!

In the midst of the fun, I felt myself choking back tears of joy.  My journey to parenthood was first marred by sadness with two losses back-to-back.  However; our prayers were answered with our beautiful baby boy, Dylan Archer.  During one moment of Dylan’s party, Psalm 30:5 came to mind, “Though the sorrow may last for the night, JOY comes in the morning,” (emphasis mine).  While there will always be a longing for the two that left too soon, my son was worth the wait.  Dylan has filled our home with so much laughter, fun, love and JOY!  I am so thankful.

Dylan, we love you so much! Happy Birthday!
