I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

The Next Right Thing

The Next Right Thing

While in our state of social-distancing, we have been getting good use out of our Disney+ account.  One movie that has been on repeat is Frozen 2.  When Anna is deeply depressed after believing she lost both Elsa and Olaf, she sings a song called, “The Next Right Thing.” It is incredibly raw and moved me to tears.

For days I’ve been mulling over these lyrics when coincidentally, a friend and local flower farmer referenced this film. She shared that this has been her philosophy during these uncertain economic times.  While I am not in the floral industry, it’s evident that the ripple effect of self-isolation greatly impacts her business due to widespread event cancellation.  Instead of folding her hand, she is diligently and faithfully sowing seeds and preparing to harvest all while not knowing the outcome and bottom line of her season’s crop. I admire her work ethic and foritude.

With so many unknowns, it can become overwhelming for us all.  While so many aspects of this pandemic are outside of our control, there are variables we can influence.  We can choose to the do the next right thing.  Personally, I can choose to have productive days, to exercise, to parent intentionally, to nurture my soul, to inspire my mind, to pursue creativity, to prepare nutritious meals, to stay connected with loved ones, to find ways to serve others, to adhere to the authority’s directives… to make this season joyful amidst all of its limitations and hardship. These last several years since my miscarriages have taught me how grief and joy can co-exist. We can live in that tension yet remain at peace and live abundantly by God’s grace.

Like my friend’s flowers, day by day, moment by moment, let’s continue to grow, bloom and thrive "Into the Unknown” [another track on Frozen 2 🎶]. Let’s find beauty and strength as we do the next right thing.

PS. If you are staying home like my family is, I hope you can snuggle with your babies and pets, enjoy a coffee and watch this movie! It’s one children’s movie I genuinely enjoy. I promise it’s 100% less annoying than PJ Masks! 😜

Just do the next right thing
Take a step, step again
It is all that I can to do
The next right thing

I won’t look too far ahead
It’s too much for me to take
But break it down to this next breath
This next step
This next choice is one that I can make
