I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

In & Out

In & Out

This New Year’s on social media instead of seeing a typical list of resolutions, I’ve noticed a list of in versus outs. Things to integrate into our lives and things to say goodbye too. I’ve enjoyed reading them and therefore decided to make my own list for 2024.

IN

  • Prioritizing sleep meaning a consistent bedtime routine, early evenings and early refreshed wakings

  • Drinking a glass of water before my coffee and aiming to stay hydrated by drinking one full tumbler daily, plus extra during my workouts

  • Putting more energy into my kids’ weekday breakfasts and spending quality time with them before school

  • Having a few moments of family time at the kitchen table after school

  • Making dinner a priority both nutritionally and creating an atmosphere of togetherness

  • Working out at the gym 4-5 days a week

  • Eating regular meals, sitting down and eating slowly as opposed to on-the-go

  • Eating more whole foods and less processed foods

  • Finishing dinner with something sweet like yogurt or fruit helps curbs evening cravings

  • Read with/to my kids daily

  • Reading my Bible and praying 10 minutes a day

  • Investing into my marriage more. Putting in the same energy and work into my marriage as I do my friendships and parenting.

  • More kitchen dance parties

  • Budgeting better

  • Reading two books a month

  • Delve into gardening

  • Play piano, guitar, drums or sing a few times per week

  • More date nights

    OUT

  • Working out as a form of punishment

  • Stupid bickering with my spouse [being overly sensitive and/or critical at times]

  • Staying up too late scrolling social media [bedtime procrastination]

  • Letting my fear of failure get in the way of trying

  • Stop emotional eating/not-eating

  • Obsessing overly cleanliness where it rules my mood

  • Impulse shopping/ retail therapy

CONTINUING

  • Weekly cleaning schedule

  • Investing into school

  • Carving individual time with each kid whether it’s a game of Uno, Mario Kart race, singings songs, crafts… etc.

  • Baking- but do more of it [including sourdough bread]

  • Keeping an organized and beautiful home
