What's In My Hospital Bag
Tomorrow I will be 35 weeks pregnant, which means we will soon be meeting our little one. We are so excited! These days when I'm not in Christmas mode, I am in full-fledge nesting mode. Therefore, it is time for me to start packing my hospital bag. Here is what I plan to bring:
WHAT'S IN MY HOSPITAL BAG: MOM
MAKEUP & TOILETRIES (DON'T FORGET HAIR TIES!) // FACE WIPES // DRY SHAMPOO // SLIPPERS // SLEEP MASK // ROBE & PJ'S // SOCKS // FLIP FLOPS // MAXI PADS (OVERNIGHT) // NIPPLE CREAM // NIPPLE PADS // PRENATAL VITAMINS // NURSING SLEEP BRA // NURSING CAMI // HIGH WAISTED BLACK UNDERWEAR // POSTPARTUM BELLY BAND // MATERNITY LEGGINGS // CAMERA // NURSING COVER // PHONE AND CHARGER // WATER BOTTLE // HEADPHONES // PILLOW // LIP BALM // MONEY (FOR PARKING/ CAFETERIA)
WHAT'S IN MY HOSPITAL BAG: BABY
SLEEPERS // CAR SEAT // CAR SEAT COVER // SCRATCH MITTENS // UNDERSHIRTS // SOCKS // NURSING PILLOW // SWADDLE // BLANKETS // BREAST PUMP // DIAPERS // WIPES
WHAT'S IN MY HOSPITAL BAG: HUSBAND
SWEAT PANTS // HOODIES // TOILETRIES // SOCKS // PILLOWS // SLEEPING BAG // SNACKS // BACK PACK // WATER BOTTLE
EXTRA: Healthcord Cryogenics. My husband and I (with the generosity of our parents) preserve the umbilical cord blood of our babies. This comes at a significant expense, but is such an investment in securing our children's health. Both my family doctor and O.B. agree preserving the umbilical cord blood is a fantastic idea when I broached the subject with them.
Gifts For Siblings. Naturally the baby will get lots of attention, but it's important to show the other kids that they are loved and not forgotten. Since my son is only 21 months, he's going to receive a gift "from baby brother." We hope that will give him a positive first impression... we shall see!
What are your hospital bag must-haves?
* Because I am a c-section mom, I have to stay in the hospital a day or so longer than VBAC moms. Subsequently I have to tweak what I bring/ pack a little extra. If I were having a VBAC, I'd swap out the belly wrap (besides helping tone the abdominal muscles, it provides support and relief at the incision site) and pack Tucks Pads. They provide comfort "down there"... I can only imagine how one would feel after squeezing out a human being!
