The Glowing Ginger: Sleep
A couple months ago, I wrote a post called Breaking Bad: Sleep where I addressed my toddler's poor sleep habits. It has dawned on me that I have been hypocritical and not leading by example in this area. I need to prioritize this as my entire health hinges on being adequately rested. This week I have tackled both my eating and workout regime [future posts to come about those topics], but that can only get me so far without proper sleep.
Having an exclusively breastfed baby means that I am not guaranteed long stretches of undisturbed shut-eye. However; I need to get to bed at a reasonable time so I can be as rested as possible. My late grandfather used to say, "An hour of sleep before midnight is better than two hours of sleep after." Despite my night owl tendencies, I admit he makes a good point.
Henceforth I will restrict screen time after 10 PM with 10:30 PM lights out. I will cultivate a relaxing nighttime routine because I have trouble falling asleep. [My husband on the other hand is out cold in the blink of an eye]! It will evolve as I fine-tune it, but I imagine it will consist of self care, meditation and reading.
Sweet dreams everyone!
